Set for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Underground Arts, the show will feature women artists “who believe in using the power of music to strengthen the message” of Wednesday’s protests. Tickets for the show are $20 in advance online, or $25 at the door.
The night will include performances from a number of notable Philly-based bands, plus the Brooklyn-based Manic Pixi. Philly acts playing the show are as follows:
- Queen of Jeans
- Louie Louie
- Molly Rhythm
- Ivy Sole
- Harmony Woods
- The Pretty Greens
- Troi Lauren
- Little Strike
- Sweetbriar Rose
“There has never been a more important time for women of all backgrounds and talents to come together and support one another,” said Sweetbriar Rose’s Heather Shayne Blakeslee of the show in a release. “We and the other performers are excited to volunteer our time to this concert to show solidarity for women everywhere.”
Proceeds from the evening will go to the Crossroads Women’s Center, a Germantown organization that works to provide information and support for Philadelphia-area women in need.
Prior to the show here in Philly, International Women’s Day will be marked throughout the world with the International Women’s Strike and A Day Without A Woman. Those protests encourage women to take the day off from work, refrain from shopping, and wear red in solidarity for the day.
