Cravers of couture don't need to travel to Milan, Paris or New York for a steady dose of fashion: Philadelphia Fashion Week is poking its stylish head back into our lives. Extending from Monday, Aug. 31 through Friday, Sept. 4, the week brings both local and visiting designers to runways across the city. Here's what's going down.

Every good festival has a kick-off party. This one takes place, running from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31 at SugarHouse Casino's (1001 N. Delaware Ave.) Refinery Restaurant, features networking opportunities, a presentation from designer Kevin Love, food and wine, and live performance from hip-hop artist CHOPS.

Stilettos wit' Whiz? On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the runway heads to Geno's Steaks (1219 S. 9th St.) for a celeb-filled fashion show open to the public starting at 7 p.m. Get the VIP treatment with exclusive seating when you purchase a cheesesteak.

Wednesday, Sept. 2's show is all about the guys. Men's styles from seven designers will be showcased at the Ritz-Carlton (10 Avenue of the Arts) starting at 7 p.m. And it's still before Labor Day, so you're encouraged to wear all white. Even to the after-party at Bleu Martini (24 S. 2nd St.) starting at 10 p.m.

Meet a fashion maven. New York Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis is honored at the Philadelphia Fashion Week Icon Award presentation at Macy's Center City (1300 Market St.) and then signs her book and meets with fans on Thursday, Sept. 3. You might need to leave work a little early — it all begins at 5 p.m.

You'll be able to pull looks directly from the runway at Thursday, Sept. 3's Ready-To-Wear Fashion Show, starting at 7 p.m. at the Crane Arts Building (1400 N. American St.). It doesn't end there: An after-party is set for 10 p.m. at Rumor (1500 Sansom St.).

The week rounds out on Friday, Sept. 4 with an explosive couture fashion show highlighting designs from around the world beginning at 7 p.m.
