In 2006 Girls Rock Philly had one simple goal; teach girls about the importance of music.  From ages 9-17 this camp has grown conisderably larger with each passing year, starting with 20 campers in its first year and expanding to over 75 in 2010.  Girls Rock Philly focuses on not only musical development and mentorship, but friendship & community building, leadership skills, creativity, and critical thinking.  This well rounded camp has been molding the talents of numerous girls over the year, and on Saturday they celebrate their experience.

The Killers haven't released an album in over 4 years, but on September 18th, that is all going to change.  The new album is titled Battle Born and The Killers have been kind enough to preview a few of them through a number of different outlets.  On their official website you can listen to "Runaways" in its entirety, which is extremely refreshing considering we have to wait another few months for the official album release.  In the teaser for the album, The Killers included "Flesh and Bones", a track that complimented the imagery of the video quite well, which you can check out below.  However, the latest previews of their new tracks from Battle Born have come from the start of their tour, which kicked off yesterday in Asheville, NC.  The songs "Miss Atomic Bomb", "Flesh and Bones", and "Rising Tide" were all included in their set and even caught on video (albeit very poor quality).

Is there a better way to kick off the 4th of July than celebrating an iconic American singer-songwriter at the National Constitution Center? Nope.
