11 Essential Summer Events
We've already told you all about the concert scene, but seriously, the parties and events happening this summer are bananas. We put together 11 essential summer events you need to be at.
11 Essential Summer Events

1. Fngrbanger: Zombie Apocalypse
Forget about bath salts, prepare to bring your inner zombie out with Fngrbanger: Zombie Apocalypse. Break out your best zombie ensemble and get ready to grind up on some hot flesh. Djs Xavier B, Suga Shay and DJ Connor will be keeping the beats flowing all night along with a special guest DJ all the way from Colorado: JJ Bearz.
This won't be your standard music scene, you’re going to have your mind blown by the sounds of some riot grrrl, alternative, punk, electro, booty jamz and whatever else the DJs are feeling that night. If you need a little liquid encouragement to talk to that cute undead chick/dude across the dance floor, there will be drink specials until 12 and cheap PBR all night long. Photobot 3000 will be there to catch the action.
Remember, dressing up is strongly encouraged.

We all know Factory Girls as the super babes bringing your inner rage out on Thursday nights. On Friday, June 29th, Factory Girls are stepping their game up to a whole new level, bringing us Flowerbomb the special Friday Edition. Expect to served up an unhealthy dose of mayhem as they have special guest Gun$ Garcia in the house along with resident Djs: K|Rex, Suga Shay and Gabonghi.
Hosting the event will be Phalla Sen, Ariel Leon-Coeur, Madison Rupert along with gogo and belt busting burlesque with Emily Doofnoggle. Be sure to get glammed up because Marie Alyse will be there snapping photos along with the usual photo booth shots by Photobot 3000. There will also be a special midnight champagne toast in memory of Sabina Rose.
Get there before 11 pm and get in free, or pay $5 after.

July 16th
Silk City 435 Spring Garden St. 9 pm $12 advance tickets, $15 door
After being asked to become a part of hip hop group Slum Village in 2001, Elzhi’s career seems to have taken off. Working alongside artists such as Kanye West and John Legend, and putting on concerts in cities as far as Tokyo and Amsterdam, we can’t wait for him to touch down in Philly on July 16th.
The show, presented by Silk City & Rated Rook, not only features Elzhi but also Philly’s own Chill Moody, 4th Pyramid, Dewey Decibel and Bakery Boys. We’re totally into the eclectic line-up. The show starts at 9 pm, and tickets at $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
Trust us, you’re going to want to say you were there.
5-11 pm
$25, all ages
To put it simply, this night is going to be magical. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

2nd Street is well known for its rad festivities. It’s not a surprise that the annual 2nd Street Festival has returned for it’s 4th year. North 2nd street between Germantown and Green Streets will be closed off and filled with beer gardens, workshops, art, food, and other merchandise vendors. Plus, there will be three stages on the street in addition to another one in the Piazza, all programmed by the Philadelphia Folksong Society.

Ever fancy building a homemade, human-powered flying machine, piloting it off a 30-foot high deck and hoping not to face-plant into the Schuylkill River? Us either, but its fun to watch! In German, flugtag means “flying day” but we all know what is about to go down, literally.
This year, on September 15th, come out to view dozens of brave pilots descend upon the Camden Waterfront to fly. End summer on a funny note and watch the fearless pilots take off at Red bull Flugtag 2012.

10. Mondays at North Shore Beach Club
Since forever, Monday has been deemed the worst day of the week; we all avoid, dread and hate it. This summer is about to change that. Monday June 4th kicked off the first edition of Locals Only, Philly’s first ever weekly pool party. DJ Jayo & different guest DJs will be spinning poolside all summer as you lay out, take a dip, shake your booty or sip on some of those $4 Stoli honey and lemonade teas and $2 pbrs that they’re offering all day.
Now technically North Shore is a members only establishment, but everyone is invited to Locals Only. Needless to say, we’re pretty geeked for Mondays now.

11. Weekdays at Morgan’s Pier
Morgan's Pier221 N Columbus Blvd.9 pm
All three nights start at 9 pm.
