The Comcast Network to broadcast U.S. Open Cup final

In the previous two years of GolTV's broadcast rights deal for the U.S. Open Cup final, the network refused to allow any local stations to air simultaneous coverage. This year, though, the Union have broken GolTV's hegemony.

Though it hasn't officially been announced yet by any of the parties involved, I've had it confirmed to me that Tuesday's game against the Seattle Sounders will air on The Comcast Network. A few eagle-eyed readers spotted a line in the schedule listings on Comcast SportsNet's website, and I was told Sunday morning that it is indeed the case.

Marc Zumoff, a renowned Union fan who is also the 76ers' television play-by-play voice, will call the game alongside usual Union color man alongside Peter Pappas. J.P. Dellacamera will be in Los Angeles for his usual midweek work with Fox's coverage of the CONCACAF Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

I do not know if there are any local TV arrangements for the Seattle market, though the Sounders will have a live audio feed on their website.

I do know that if you are outside of TCN's distribution area, you will not be able to get the TV broadcast via cable and satellite providers that offer national coverage of regional sports networks. TCN and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia are available via some providers within the distribution area, but Comcast has not struck carriage deals with DirecTV or Dish Network for carriage.

I'll update this story as I get more information.
