NBC Sports' 2014 Premier League and MLS TV schedule from December through May

Here is the schedule of broadcasts for English Premier League and Major League Soccer games on NBC, NBC Sports Network and the rest of the Peacock empire.

The Premier League announces kickoff times on a rolling basis in the second half of the season, and NBC follows suit with its broadcast schedule. Overall, the basic framework from the first half of the season remains in place, so you should be able to make some educated guesses on your own.

I have included MLS games through May 11, the final day of the Premier League season. The full 2014 MLS national television schedule is here.

Remember when Fox Soccer used to simulcast Sky Sports' live coverage of transfer deadline day? Well, NBCSN is going to try doing the same thing. They'll have a one-hour broadcast covering the close of the window at 7:00 p.m.

With Rebecca Lowe working the Olympics in Sochi, Steve Bower will fill in. He'll be joined by Kyle Martino, Robbie Mustoe and Robbie Earle in studio, Arlo White in Newcastle (see why below) and the Daily Mail's Neil Ashton from London.

It's the first time all season that NBCSN will have announcing crews live on site for two games on the same day. You'll notice that U.S. national team goalkeeper Tim Howard will be back in the broadcast booth for United-Liverpool, a day after Everton's home game against Cardiff. It's a reasonably short trip from Goodison Park to Old Trafford, and Howard has already called Sunday games after playing on Saturdays this season.

Sunday morning's pregame show is live from White Hart Lane with White and the BBC's Gary Lineker, starting at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.

After the second game, NBCSN will have its usual half-hour Goal Zone postgame studio show. Then Match of the Day II will be broadcast live at 2:30 p.m. instead of taped. That back-to-back arrangement will continue on Sundays for the rest of the season.

You'll notice that the MLS crew will have some new faces this weekend. One of them, though, is likely to be familiar to Philadelphia sports fans. Danny Pommells hosts SportsNet Central at 10 p.m. on weekdays, as well as the taped late-night and early-morning editions of the channel's flagship highlights show.

A Philadelphia native and Temple University product, Pommells told me that NBC Sports reached out to him for the job. He admitted to me that most of his previous soccer experience comes from watching the sport as opposed to broadcasting it, and he has taken his family to PPL Park to sit in the stands a few times.

Pommells singled out play-by-play voice John Strong and producer Shaw Brown as people he's looking forward to working with.

"I'm just the point guard steering everybody through," he said. "I'm going to jump in headfirst and look to make the most of it."

Kyle Martino, meanwhile, has switched off MLS duty for a few weeks to work with a Discovery Channel show on jumping from Mount Everest. His replacement for the time being is former Real Salt Lake and D.C. United defender Robbie Russell.

Kyle Martino returns to NBCSN this weekend, earlier than originally planned. Discovery Channel canceled the Mount Everest jump documentary that he was part of after an avalanche earlier this month killed 13 people.

Dalen Cuff is a name that most of you are probably not so familiar with. He works as a college basketball analyst and sideline reporter for NBCSN, and as a presenter for Comcast SportsNet New England's local SportsNet Central highlights show. He also hosts CSN weekly magazine show on the New England Revolution.

Don't let his lack of soccer TV work fool you, though, because he knows the game really well. And I'll admit I know that because I've been friends with him for a long time outside of soccer. We have traveled the same circles in college basketball for many years, going back to his playing days at Columbia from 2002 to 2006. I'm sure he'll do well in this new role.

On the final day of the EPL season, the full arsenal of NBC Universal channels will be used to broadcast all 10 games on television. NBC and NBCSN will have their own announcing crews on site; the rest will be the world feeds provided by the Premier League.

Pregame coverage will start at 9:00 a.m. on CNBC. Two hours of postgame coverage will air simultaneously on NBC and NBCSN from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and a final season wrap-up show will air at 2:30 p.m. on NBCSN. After that, the network will switch to MLS. Once MLS coverage wraps up at 5:00, there will be another hour of Premier League analysis on NBCSN.
