CONCACAF Champions League: Kansas City, Portland enjoy easy wins

I wrote in last week's Games to Watch column that Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers both needed big wins in order to have comfortable goal differences going into their tricky last group stage games.

Although it turns out goal difference isn't the first tiebreaker, it was nonetheless good to see both MLS teams record big wins Tuesday night. The highlights are below.

Note that because of Rosh Hashanah, I won't be posting a roundup of Wednesday's games on Thursday morning. I'll do a combined roundup of Wednesday and Thursday's games on Friday. You'll also be able to find the highlights on CONCACAF's YouTube page. And of course, you could just watch the games live on TV or online.

Sporting Kansas City: Claudio Bieler 13', Claudio Bieler (PK) 70', Sal Zizzo 78'

Portland Timbers: Jack Jewsbury 11', Gastón Fernández 36', Michael Nanchoff 49', Norberto Paparatto 61', Fanendo Adi 75', Norberto Paparatto 88'
