WWE reinstates superstar Emma after releasing her from contract

UPDATE 7:30 p.m.: The WWE has apparently changed its mind when it comes to Dashwood and has decided to reinstate her after releasing her from her contract on Wednesday.

"Upon further evaluation, WWE has reinstated Tenille Dashwood (WWE Diva Emma) but will take appropriate punitive action for her violation of the law."

-- End of update --

Two days after being arrested in Hartford, Conn., WWE superstar Emma, whose real name is Tenille Dashwood, was released from her contract, the company announced Wednesday.

Dashwood was arrested Monday and was charged with sixth-degree larceny after allegedly stealing an iPod case from a Hartford Walmart. Her arrest caused her to miss this past Monday's episode of Raw, which took place at the XL Center in Hartford.

Dashwood appeared in court Tuesday where her lawyers said that the entire situation was merely a mistake and a misunderstanding, as Dashwood unknowingly walked out with the case after having some trouble with the self-checkout line.

The supposed mistake still landed Dashwood with a sentence of one day of community service. Although the WWE did not state the reason behind Dashwood's release, her mistake at a Walmart in Hartford is probably what led to the decision to let her go.

Former WWE superstar Lance Storm trained Dashwood, who then made a name for herself on the independent circuit in her native Australia and North America.

Dashwood signed a developmental contract with the WWE in 2011 and was moved up to the main roster earlier this year.
