AT&T Stadium to host WWE WrestleMania 32 in 2016

In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, the WWE officially announced that WrestleMania 32 would emanate from AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas in 2016.

A press conference to celebrate the announcement is scheduled for Tuesday. John Cena, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan and WWE chief executive officer Vince McMahon are scheduled to appear.

According to a report from the Dallas Morning News, north Texas beat out 14 other regions of the country to host the event. Although Philadelphia was interested in hosting WrestleMania 31, it is not yet confirmed if the city was among the competitors to host WrestleMania 32.

WrestleMania 31 will take place March 29 in Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Senior vice president for the Dallas Cowboys Charlotte Jones Anderson, who is the daughter of Jerry Jones, told the Dallas Morning News that the organization has had WrestleMania in mind for years now.

"When we set out to build this stadium, we were looking at all the really big events, marquee events," she told the Dallas Morning News. "This was one of them. When you look at an event this size, and when it has an incredible impact … it was certainly one we wanted to do our best to secure."

When Anderson made the pitch the WWE, the company's senior vice president of special events John Saboor told the Dallas Morning News that it helped the region break out from its competitors.

"Dallas and Arlington broke out a very competitive national landscape to win the right to host WrestleMania 32," Saboor told the Dallas Morning News. "AT&T Stadium serves as the bedrock of the region's proposal … but they also have key infrastructure to welcome our domestic and international fans, and a strong résumé of success in hosting major sports and entertainment events."

AT&T Stadium has previously a Super Bowl, the NCAA Final Four and the NBA All-Star Game.
