WWE Smackdown Live results and observations (10/25/16): Everything is going to be fine, James Ellsworth

While Raw has been busy the last few weeks hyping up its exclusive pay-per-view, Smackdown Live has spent that time steadily producing consistently good shows, including this past Tuesday night in Green Bay, Wisc.

Smackdown Live may not knock anyone's socks off with excitement. However, it is still a quality two-hour wrestling program that does not overstay its welcome.

Before I go in-depth, here are the full match results from the Resch Center:

- Bray Wyatt def. Kane

- The Hype Bros def. The Ascension

- Nikki Bella def. Natalya

- WWE Smackdown Tag Team championship – Heath Slater & Rhyno def. The Spirit Squad

- AJ Styles def. Dean Ambrose via disqualification

James Ellsworth makes a costly mistake

The man with two hands was back on Smackdown Live this week, but did not defeat the WWE World champion for a third time.

Instead, he stood in Ambrose's corner while he went against the champion to earn the right to become the No. 1 contender.

Ambrose was reluctant in letting Ellsworth be in his corner, mostly out of concern for his safety, but Ellsworth insisted on being out there in an effort to repay Ambrose for helping him out the last couple of weeks.

Styles and Ambrose had a very good match, but there were multiple times when Styles attacked Ellsworth while he was cheering on Ambrose.

After the second time, Ellsworth had seen enough and took matters into his own two hands.

Styles had been dumped out of the ring and took a while to make it back to his feet. This allowed Ellsworth to essentially hulk up on Styles out of anger. Once Styles made it back to his feet, Ellsworth put him right back to the ground with a super kick or for Ellsworth, no chin music.

Although the fans thoroughly enjoyed seeing Ellsworth gain some revenge on Styles, all of this happened right in front of the referee. The official then had no choice but to disqualify Ambrose, costing him the match and a chance at WWE World title.

Ambrose was not happy about this expressed as much on his face. Ellsworth was very remorseful by what just happened and apologized to Ambrose.

I must say that I liked all of this, as it created some intrigued with all three men. How will Ambrose react to Ellsworth's mistake?

If Ambrose takes his frustration out on Ellsworth that would instantly make him a heel, but maybe that is exactly where this story is headed.

What it also means is that we have not seen the last of Ellsworth, which is a very good thing.

Randy Orton talks about joining The Wyatt Family

"If you can't beat them, join them," was what Orton said after he helped Wyatt defeat Kane in the night's opening contest.

Wyatt faced Kane in a no disqualification match, which almost instantly saw interference from Wyatt's companion Luke Harper. Orton ran to the ring later on to supposedly even the odds.

However, Orton turned to Kane, hit him with an RKO and left the ring, which allowed Wyatt to pin Kane and pick up the victory.

Has Wyatt driven Orton so crazy that he is legitimately joining his family or is this one of those stories where someone infiltrates a large group and destroys it from within?

I'm thinking the latter. I just don't see WWE making Orton a Wyatt Family member for more than a month.

I have not been a big fan of this feud, but I have to admit that this particular chapter in the story was pretty good.

Alexa Bliss spoils Becky Lynch's return

After spending weeks on the shelf due to injury, Lynch, the WWE Smackdown Women's champion, returned to Smackdown Live.

However, Bliss, the No. 1 contender to Lynch's title, cut her time in the spotlight rather short.

Bliss said that ever since she became the No. 1 contender, Lynch suddenly grew a yellow streak down her back and didn't want to face her. According to Bliss, Lynch's injury was only excuse so that she didn't have to lose her title at No Mercy.

Lynch obviously took exception to this and the two women eventually traded fisticuffs.

Bliss got the better of Lynch on this night, but then took a page out of the New World Order's playbook and spray painted a yellow streak down Lynch's back.

The New World Order stuff aside, I thought both women executed this segment very well, especially Bliss, who greatly executed the role of being a delusional, self-centered heel.

Raw may have the women with more star power in Charlotte and Sasha Banks, but this segment was proof that Smackdown Live is getting the absolute most out of the women on its roster.

Smackdown Live Survivor Series teams begin to take shape

By virtue of their victory over The Ascension Tuesday, The Hype Brose will be one of the teams representing Smackdown Live in the tag team Survivor Series.

In a match with even more ramifications, Bella earned the right to be the captain of Smackdown Live's women's Survivor Series team after she defeated Natalya. With the loss, Natalya is currently being left off the team.

I'm not so sure that it makes sense to have Bella captain the team when you have a champion, but I guess it fit into the story surrounding Natalya desperately wanting to be captain.

Side note: Bella does a better version of the STF than her boyfriend, John Cena.
