WWE NXT results and observations (6/21/17): Black Mass

A strong main event and some major announcements highlighted this week's edition of NXT.

The main event of this week's show was between Aleister Black and Kassius Ohno in what was billed as a matchup of NXT's best strikers.

As expected, Black's kicks and Ohno's elbows were on full display, but when the smoke cleared, Black's most devastating kick, black mass, proved to be the strongest and it lifted Black to his biggest victory since joining NXT.

Outside of the main event, the in-ring action was rather pedestrian this week. The winner of the second-best match on the show easily went to Ember Moon's victory over Peyton Royce, as Moon looked to be back in top form after being sidelined for a number of weeks due to a shoulder injury.

Also wrestling on the show was Daria Berenato, who is known as Sonya Deville. In what was essentially her re-debut on NXT, Deville defeated Rachel Evers.

As far as the major announcements, Asuka is set to defend her NXT Women's title next week against Nikki Cross in a Last Woman Standing match. The announcement came after the two brawled all around Full Sail last week and caused their triple threat elimination match with Ruby Riot to be tossed out.

The week after that, the NXT championship will be on the line, as Bobby Roode will defend his title against Roderick Strong.

That match was made after the two crossed paths earlier in the day and nearly came to blows. A fleet of people was able to get in between the two men, but that will not be the case in two weeks.

Here are the full match results:

- Ember Moon def. Peyton Royce

- Eric Young & Alexander Wolfe def. The Ealy Brothers

- Sonya Deville def. Rachel Evers

- Aleister Black def. Kassius Ohno
