WWE NXT results and observations (10/19/16): Roderick Strong makes his presence felt in NXT

It was night of first at Full Sail for the most recent episode of NXT.

The first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continued with two more matches.

It was the first match for Sanity's Nikki Cross and it was the first appearance for a former Ring of Honor World champion.

We shall start there, as Roderick Strong made his NXT debut as Austin Aries' mystery partner for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Strong didn't have too much time to enjoy his first night at Full Sail, as he and Aries went up against Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic in the first round of the tournament.

Despite a game effort from Knight and Dozovic, Strong and Aries won and advanced to the second round, which is where they will face TM-61.

In the other first-round matchup, Rich Swann and No Way Jose used their entertaining style to defeat the no-nonsense team of Drew Gulak and Tony Nese.

Up next for Swann and Jose are the Authors of Pain. The dancing duo didn't seem intimidated by their second-round opponents, saying that there was no way that the Authors could handle what they brought to the table.

As for Cross, she won her debut match against Danielle Kamella, but the decision was reversed when Cross mercilessly attacked Kamella after the match.

Sanity's leader, Eric Young, attempted to pull Cross off Kamella. Cross responded by delivering a forearm right to Young's face. Young, along with Sawyer Fulton and Alexander Wolfe, laughed it off as if it was a normal occurrence for the unstable Cross.

Elsewhere on NXT, NXT champion Shinsuke Nakamura went to the ring near the end of the program to talk about Samoa Joe. However, the eccentric Patrick Clark thought it would be a good time to interrupt him.

Nakamura wasn't very happy with Clark's decision and gave him a Kinshasa for his troubles. Joe, Nakamura's opponent at NXT Takeover: Toronto, attempted to intervene, but thought better of it.

Speaking of NXT Takeover: Toronto, Tye Dillinger asked to face Bobby Roode at the event after Roode left him hanging last week. NXT general manager William Regal granted him his wish, meaning that the two Canadians will faceoff in their home country in a couple of weeks.

After defeating Sean Maluta, Roode delivered some verbal jabs about Dillinger, which brought out the "Perfect 10" to deliver some real ones. Roode escaped before Dillinger could do too much damage.

And finally, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce ganged up on Liv Morgan and left her knocked out on top of the stage. It seems like Morgan is going to have to enlist some help to even the odds.

It is just a matter of whom.
