WWE Monday Night Raw results and observations (7/24/17): Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman, oh my!

Smackdown Live left a bad taste in wrestling fans' mouths after a sub par Battleground pay-per-view.

Fortunately, the Raw brand put some faith back in the WWE Universe with another good show Monday night at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Six months ago, it was the other way around, as Raw was average at best and Smackdown Live was consistently pumping out quality shows.

But as we head into SummerSlam, Raw is the brand that has consistently churned out a good product. If only WWE could figure out a way to make both brands watchable at the same time and we might actually get somewhere.

Before I go any further, here are the full match results:

- No disqualification – Elias Samson def. Finn Balor

- Big Cass def. Enzo Amore

- Nia Jax def. Emma

- Bayley def. Sasha Banks

- Jason Jordan def. Curt Hawkins

- The Revival def. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

- Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose def. The Miz, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas

Big Universal title match set for SummerSlam

When I say big, I mean big in the most literally sense possible, as Brock Lesnar will defend his Universal championship at SummerSlam against Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman in a fatal four-way.

That will mean four big hosses will be going at it in what will likely be the main event of WWE's second-biggest show of the year and I cannot wait.

For one, the match makes perfect sense given the story WWE has told with these four men. Secondly, WWE has done a bang-up job of booking everyone in the match not named Lesnar.

That is not to say WWE has booked Lesnar poorly. It is just that he has not been on television every week so it doesn't have to do much with him.

But when it comes to Strowman, Reigns and Joe, it feels like all three men have a legitimate chance to walk out of Brooklyn, N.Y. as the WWE Universal champion.

What more could fans ask more than that? Everything leading up to the match should be a ton of fun, the match itself should awesome and there is no obvious outcome.

I literally have no complaints when it comes to how WWE has booked this so far. None.

As for next week, we are going to get a taste of what it will be like at SummerSlam when Reigns, Joe and Strowman will face each other in a triple threat match.

The three men brawled Monday night and it required nearly the entire Raw roster to break it up. It was awesome.

Strowman even tossed a security guard from inside the ring to the floor. This guy literally flew. It was amazing.

Rollins, Ambrose had a successful reunion

For the first time in a long time, Rollins and Ambrose fought on the same side Monday night and the result was positive for the former Shield members.

They worked together without a hitch that brought back some fond memories of years gone by. The only thing that was missing was Reigns, but he apparently he is way too busy doing more important things.

I like the WWE told the story throughout the match and even after the match, as Ambrose was happy with the win, but was not quite ready to fully accept Rollins has his brother again.

When Rollins put his fist out for the old Shield pose in the middle of the ring, Ambrose left him hanging.

Ambrose has made it clear from the beginning that he does not trust Rollins and this was just another sign that he didn't change his mind that quickly.

Bray Wyatt is poking the demon

To no one's surprise, Wyatt interfered in Balor's match against Samson and caused the former Universal champion to lose Monday night.

Why was no one surprised? Because it is pretty much the same way all of Wyatt's feuds start. He usually cuts a cryptic promo then suddenly shows up at the end of a match and attacks someone.

After that, he typically goes on to lose many matches against the person he attacked, rendering all of that flashy smoke and mirrors stuff he does pointless.

The only thing I am looking forward to here is the first appearance of Balor's character since last year's SummerSlam, which of course was when Balor injured his shoulder in a match against Rollins.

Knowing Wyatt's maniacal nature, I could definitely see him actually calling for the demon and Balor essentially saying, "Be careful what you wish for."

If Wyatt did not start the majority of his feuds this way, I may be more excited, but his programs have become painfully repetitive over the years.

Hopefully, WWE can increase my excitement in the coming weeks.

Bayley is going to SummerSlam

Bayley seems to have fully regained her mojo, as she defeated Banks to earn a chance to face Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women's championship at SummerSlam.

The match between Bayley and Banks was very good, which should come as no surprise. Bayley and Banks simply make beautiful music together while in the ring together, and although this was not their best symphony of bodyslams and headlocks, this was still a very good tune that I thoroughly enjoyed.

However, something tells me we are not done with interactions between Banks and Bayley. On the surface, it would be easy to simply shift focus to Bliss and Bayley and place Banks somewhere else.

But WWE has been there and done that very recently, which leads me to believe WWE has something else up its sleeve. I am not totally sure what, but I am interested in finding out.

Kurt Angle's son debuts on Raw

A week after finding out an Olympic gold medalist was his biological father Jordan made his new papa proud by defeating Hawkins in his Raw debut.

While a lot has changed for Jordan's character in storyline, not much has changed aesthetically. Jordan still came out to American Alpha's theme music, which I guess WWE is letting Jordan and Gable use sine they are on different brands.

Jordan still wore a singlet and even pulled its straps down like his father used to before finishing off Hawkins with a pop up neck breaker. For those unfamiliar, Jordan has been pulling down the straps on his singlet long before he was playing the role of Angle's love child.

Big Cass almost murders Enzo Amore again

For what felt like the 14th week in a row, Big Cass beat the daylights out of Amore.

The match was essentially no different from what we have seen from this two the last couple of weeks. Amore got into the ring to talk some trash. Big Cass entered the arena to some generically awful rock music and kicked the crap out of his former best friend.

Big Show eventually made his way to the ring to prevent Big Cass from continuing the beating after the match, but Big Cass beat the crap out of the giant, too.
