WWE Elimination Chamber 2015: Last-minute predictions for the show

Although it is not an actual pay-per-view in the sense that it is being carried on traditional pay-per-view carriers, Elimination Chamber is shaping up to be a pretty exciting night of wrestling.

Elimination Chamber isn't just a run-of-the-mill WWE production. It is the company's last-ditch, impromptu attempt to woo fans to continue their subscriptions to the WWE Network when the free trial period runs out once the clock strikes midnight heading into Monday, June 1.

With that being the case, fans should expect everything including the kitchen sink from this event. When the WWE wants to earn your hard-earned money, they will do almost anything possible to do so. The company even dusted off the King of the Ring tournament hoping to up the subscriber count.

However, the card itself is worth tuning into the WWE Network Sunday night. The event boasts a WWE World Heavyweight championship match between two of the company's brightest young stars, a very intriguing champion versus champion match and, of course, two matches that carry the show's namesake.

With that being said, let's jump into my predictions for the Elimination Chamber, which will emanate from American Bank Center Arena in Corpus Christi, Texas:

WWE World Heavyweight championship – Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dean Ambrose

On paper, this should be a great match and I believe it will be. If you had told me 18 months ago that we would be getting a WWE World Heavyweight championship match between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, I would have told you to sign me up right away.

However, the angle these two have engaged in leading into this match left a little to be desired.

It all began with the way Ambrose earned the title match, or should I say strong-armed his way into the title match. I don't think him forcing his way into the match did him any favors or made him look more credible.

But again, all of that goes out of the window if these two have a great match. The only thing that will hold this match back will be the inevitable interference from J&J Security and Kane.

I can't get too upset about it though. I think I've just come accept it. I really wish these two had a chance to tear the house down for a good 30 minutes without interference from Kane, J&J Security, spooky holograms, lumberjacks, Bray Wyatt, etc. If they just had the stage to themselves to paint a beautiful yet brutal picture on the wrestling canvas, it could be an instant classic. A Picasso, if you will.

One could only dream, but the harsh reality is that won't happen Sunday. What will happen is Rollins will somehow, someway (probably through droves of interference), retain his precious title.

Prediction: Seth Rollins RETAINS the WWE World Heavyweight championship

Champion vs. Champion – John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

That intriguing champion versus champion match I mentioned earlier gained even more intrigue with the news that current NXT Champion Kevin Owens has inked a deal to join the WWE's main roster.

First of all, how much does the WWE love Kevin Owens to fast track him to the main roster so quickly? He hasn't even been in NXT for a year and he's already the promotion's champion and is on the main roster booked for a pay-per-view match with John Cena. You know, the No. 1 draw in the company.

Second of all, it completely changes the complexion of this encounter.

Without his new deal, I fully expected Owens to have a fantastic showing against Cena, only to valiantly lose in the end, as Cena is the 15-time world champion that never gives up, and Owens, albeit a champion, is still an NXT superstar working his way up the ladder.

But now since Owens is essentially on the same level as Cena (in theory anyway), you could justify having Owens defeat Cena, which would instantly make him into one of the top heels in the company — or babyface depending who you're talking to and their age range.

I'm really tempted pick Owens here, but this is Cena. The guy almost never loses a big match. Until that happens, I have to roll with him to overcome the odds yet again.

Prediction: John Cena def. Kevin Owens

Elimination Chamber for WWE Intercontinental championship – Sheamus vs. King Barrett vs. Rusev vs. R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Ryback

Elimination Chamber matches are usually a lot of fun and I expect this one to be no different.

This is the first time the Intercontinental championship has been on the line, which adds a bit of history to the proceedings.

As far as a winner, I come down to two guys: Sheamus and Rusev.

Besides being heels with only one name, both Sheamus and Rusev are probably the only guys that actually have good reason to win the title.

King Barrett has been Intercontinental champion five times and none of his five reigns have been all that memorable. Ryback will probably still have his hands full with Bray Wyatt at some point soon. Dolph Ziggler would be a nice candidate, but like Barrett, he's been there before and it didn't really do much for him.

And R-Truth is just … R-Truth.

So the question is why Sheamus or Rusev? Well, Sheamus just turned heel two months ago has been virtually unstoppable since returning from injury. He's done a good job with his new persona and what better way to reward him than by making him a heel champion that babyfaces like Ziggler or even Neville could chase.

When it comes to Rusev, he could use the boost given that he just lost three straight United States championship matches to Cena and his story with Lana and Ziggler could tie into him winning the title.

I could definitely see Lana pulling a ruse on Ziggler and helping Rusev win his first Intercontinental title.

Plus, the big Russ- err Bulgarian fellow deserves it. He's put in some very good work in 2015, especially while being a jerk to Lana.

But at the end of the day, I'm going to with Sheamus to win the title.

Prediction: Sheamus WINS the Intercontinental championship

Elimination Chamber for WWE Tag Team championship – The New Day (c) vs. Los Matadores vs. Lucha Dragons vs. Primetime Players vs. The Ascension vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro

At the very least, this match should be very unique.

It will also probably be a cluster of epic proportions.

The Elimination Chamber was intended to be a six-man match for singles competitors only, but WWE has decided to make it a tag team match, but not with three teams totaling six men. Instead, the company has decided to use six teams to make it a 12-man match.

How in the world the announcers are going to be able to keep up with 12 men in the Chamber at once is beyond me.

Like said earlier though, it will be unique. It is something different and I can applaud WWE for thinking outside the box a bit — although this is pretty far outside the box. I feel bad for the person that has to put this match together.

As far as a winner, I'm sticking with the good brothers from The New Day. They are as good as they've ever been as a unit and I don't see a reason to take the titles off them at this point.

Let them run with the titles for a while and add some luster to them.

Prediction: The New Day RETAINS the WWE Tag Team championship

WWE Divas Championship – Nikki Bella (c) vs. Paige vs. Naomi

I think this match should be pretty good, but I fully expect Naomi to win her first Divas championship here.

She deserves it, as I believe she's done a very good job with her new heel persona.

Naomi and Tamina make for a formidable tandem and there's no reason to halt their momentum by losing here.

Prediction: Naomi WINS the Divas championship

Neville vs. Bo Dallas

Neville should win. As a matter fact, Neville better win. I couldn't fathom a reason why Bo Dallas would defeat Neville.

Stranger things have happened I guess.

Prediction: Neville def. Bo Dallas
