WWE 205 Live results and observations (12/6/16)

If WWE spent the debut episode of 205 Live laying the foundation, the company used this week's episode to begin building the house of what could eventually turn into a fun show every Tuesday night.

We begin with the rematch between Rich Swann and The Brian Kendrick for the WWE Cruiserweight championship.

After Swann defeated Kendrick to win the title last week, WWE inserted former champion TJ Perkins into the feud by having him do commentary during the match. WWE made it a point to mention that Perkins was still owed a title shot, which would feasibly take place against the winner of the match.

Swann retained, but not before Swann tossed Kendrick into Perkins. After being leveled, Perkins got into Kendrick's face. That slight distraction opened the door for Swann to hit a spin kick on Kendrick to seal the victory.

The action wasn't over just yet, as a frustrated Kendrick attacked Perkins. When Swann ran in to help out his friend, Perkins inadvertently super kicked him in the face, which allowed Kendrick stand tall in the end.

This is clearly setting up a triple threat match between these three and I think what was presented Tuesday was very good. Both Kendrick and Perkins have claims to being the No. 1 contender to Swann's title.

Perkins is still owed a rematch while Kendrick will use the excuse that Perkins distracted him on two occasions.

I also like the fact there is some semblance of a story being told in the main event of this show. After being mostly about in-action since the cruiserweight division debuted to the main roster, the cruiserweights having their own one-hour show every week will seemingly allow for their characters to finally show.

Elsewhere on the show, we got what looked to be a heel turn from Noam Dar after he defeated Cedric Alexander. After picking up the win, Dar bragged about making big money with WWE at the young of 23 and then dedicated the match to Alexander's on-screen love interest, Alicia Fox.

This didn't come across in a masterful way by any stretch of the imagination, but it was something, which is a lot more than what was being done a couple of weeks ago.

And finally, we got a match between Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari for the third time in a week. Unlike the first two times, this one had a story behind it.

If you recall, Gallagher defeated Daivari on 205 Live last week and on Raw Monday, but Daivari was none too pleased about his defeats and attacked Gallagher's knee after Monday's match.

That story carried over to 205 Live Tuesday, as Gallagher went to the ring with his knee bandaged up.

Daivari attacked the knee and used it to hand Gallagher is first defeat since joining the main roster. I have a feeling this rivalry is far from over.

Here are the full match results:

- Noam Dar def. Cedric Alexander

- Ariya Daivari def. Jack Gallagher

- WWE Cruiserweight championship – Rich Swann def. The Brian Kendrick
