TNA Wrestling lands television deal with Pop TV

Somehow, TNA Wrestling always seems to find a way to stay alive in the world of professional wrestling.

No matter how many seemingly insurmountable obstacles are thrown in its way, TNA fends off impending doom to fight on another day.

With its current television partnership with Destination America winding down, TNA faced what could have been certain demise if it failed to land another television partner before its current deal expired at the end of the year. But the company was resuscitated once again Thursday when it announced that it had landed a television deal with Pop TV. TNA's flagship program, Impact Wrestling, will debut on the network on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 9 p.m. and will air in the same slot every week after that.

When TNA debuts on Pop, it will mark the third network the promotion has been in a partnership with in three years.

Pop, formerly the TV Guide Channel, reaches 80 million homes in the United States and features more than 400 hours of original programming, according to Deadline.com.

"Wrestling has been a fan-fueled staple since the '50s and continues to be some of the most-watched appointment television today," Brad Schwartz, the president of Pop, said in a press release. "The die-hard fandom and extraordinary passion surrounding Impact Wrestling captures the spirit of Pop as a network that celebrates fan-driven entertainment and excitement. We're committed to this new partnership and psyched to bring the show's loyal fans a dedicated night to watch their favorite show on Pop every week."

"Pop's enthusiasm for our partnership and the network's fan focus is a perfect fit for our company," TNA president Dixie Carter said in a press release. "Wrestling has always been at the forefront of pop culture with the most passionate, loyal fan base. We're thrilled to be in business with Pop and to bring Impact Wrestling to more than 80 million homes."
