Steve Austin: Chances of in-ring return 'pretty damn slim'

Steve Austin recently appeared on The MMA Hour and was asked about the possibility of him returning to the ring, preferably at an upcoming WrestleMania.

According to Dave Scherer of PWInsider.com, Austin gave no indication that he is definitely on board with ever returning to the ring. At the same time, however, he didn't completely rule it out.

"I'd say the chances are pretty damn slim, to be frank about it," Austin said during the interview.

Austin is currently 48 years old and hasn't been in a wrestling ring for a match in more than 10 years. His last match was against The Rock at WrestleMania XIX back in April of 2003.

He admittedly isn't getting any younger, which means his neck (which was in pretty bad shape 10 years ago) isn't getting any better, at least for in-ring action.

In my opinion, old age and a hurt neck aren't the only things keeping Austin out of a wrestling ring. He also wants to be in the main event.

But in order for him to warrant being in the main event at WrestleMania, he must believe within himself that he is healthy enough to put on an main event caliber match.

If Austin doesn't come back at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, the ship for a possible return may unfortunately pass for good.
