Lou D’Angeli, known by ECW fans as Sign Guy Dudley, said on Twitter recently that the lead singer of The Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, was interested in purchasing at least a portion of TNA Wrestling.

In a story with Newsday.com, a spokesperson for Corgan told Josh Stewart that any news of him looking to buy into TNA Wrestling is merely a rumor.

“There is no reason to comment on rumors,” the spokesperson said. “Billy is completely focused on Resistance Pro’s upcoming 2nd anniversary [show on Nov. 23].”

Corgan is no stranger to the wrestling business. As noted in the quote he owns a piece of the independent promotion Resistance Pro Wrestling.

Corgan was also involved with the Philadelphia-based Extreme Championship Wrestling, but not as an owner.

He was offered to buy into the promotion by Paul Heyman, but turned it down.
