Roddy Piper says he wants to face Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 30

WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has made no bones about it: he wants to be on the card for WrestleMania XXX, and he wants to face fellow Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan in a match.

Piper was a guest on the "Steve Austin Show" for the second week in a row and openly talked his desires to gain some closure on his long-time rivalry with Hogan.

The rivalry between Piper and Hogan was so big during the mid-1980s that it headlined the first WrestleMania back in 1985 as Piper teamed up with "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff to take on Hogan and television star Mr. T.

Piper wants to bring the rivalry full circle at WrestleMania XXX in April, but one-on-one with Hogan.

"This is WrestleMania 30. I pinned Hogan once and he never pinned me," Piper said while laughing.

"It's, first of all, from a fan's perspective and from the WWE Universe and Vince [McMahon], it never had closure," Piper continued. "The business that would be done, the interviews and stuff would be coming from the heart. You could try to raise the bar of the WWE entertainment machine in our sport if they let us go toe-to-toe and don't script us. Then the fan will see really how it got started and why and see the conclusion."

"They're [WWE] asking if I can get in shape. I'm already in shape. They're asking Hogan, but there's a fear I guess of whether we could pull off the performance," he added.

Austin told Piper that he believes they can indeed pull of a good performance based the working style that Piper has always had — that of a brawler. Since he's been a brawler for the majority of his career, Piper and Hogan would essentially limit themselves to punches and kicks.

"Hogan's not going scientific," Austin said. "It's a brawl. It's a fight. You don't need scientific wrestling. All you need is to go."

"I'd put my heart into it," Piper said. "I'd give them everything I've got. And you know what, I probably would never get in the ring again. I'll probably walk away there."

Rumors have been swirling about a possible re-creation of the WrestleMania I main event, but with some new characters sprinkled in.

From the sounds of it, Piper wants to no only re-create it, but raise the ante and make it one of the main attractions in New Orleans this year.
