Rob Van Dam taking time off from WWE

WWE superstar Rob Van Dam will be taking some time off from wrestling, according to a story from WWE.com.

Van Dam participated in a hardcore match against Alberto Del Rio Sunday for the World Heavyweight Championship and came up short.

According to ProWrestlingScoops.com, Van Dam is taking time under a unique provision in his contract. Van Dam is north of 40 years old and does not want to be on a full-time schedule any more.

So when he came back to WWE, he came back under the provision that he would work for them in 90-day intervals. After 90 days, he would take time off to recuperate.

Van Dam returned to the company at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view back on July 14. Battleground this past Sunday was about the time he was supposed to be given time off.
