NXT television report (07/20/16): Bayley is in hot pursuit of Asuka

It was an action-packed episode of NXT this week, as it promoted three marquee matches for the program, including chapter three in the rivalry between Bayley and Nia Jax in the main event.

However, the show opened with a match between NXT champion Samoa Joe and Rhyno. The match was good, but it was really all about the champion, as he laid waste to the former ECW stalwart.

Next up was a grudge match between American Alpha and the Authors of Pain. The action got started before American Alpha even hit the ring, as the Authors of Pain attacked them during their entrance.

Despite being badly injured in the attack, American Alpha decided to go through with the match. The match itself was a lot of fun, as American Alpha gave the Authors of Pain their best shot with multiple suplexes to the giant men.

In the end, the Authors of Pain proved to be too much for the former NXT Tag Team champions, as they picked up the victory.

Former Tough Enough contestant Patrick Clark made his television debut while sporting some very patriotic tights against the veteran Austin Aries. As expected, Clark didn't stand much of a chance against Aries and lost in uneventful fashion.

After the match, No Way Jose showed his serious side by attacking Aries.

In the main event, Bayley had to once again go up against the towering Jax. In a bit of a surprise, Bayley actually pinned Jax and helped her cause in pursuit of the NXT Women's championship, which is currently held by Asuka.
