NXT television report (06/15/16): The Demon to meet the King of Strongstyle

A week after delivering another fun Takeover special, NXT delivered a very noteworthy episode of television this past Wednesday night.

The most noteworthy happening from Wednesday was the confrontation between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura. Balor went to the ring and proceeded to walk down memory lane. He did so by talking about his NXT career in the past tense.

He ended it by asking what was next for him. Before he could answer his own question, Nakamura interrupted him. Nakamura said that Balor is an icon in NXT, but that he needs to beat Balor to also become an icon and the next NXT champion.

Balor said that Nakamura just answered the question as to what he was doing next and shook Nakamura's to signify he accepted the challenge.

It wasn't determined when and where these would meet, but Balor and Nakamura could face each other in a sewer somewhere and people would be excited to see it.

After Balor and Nakamura stood in the same ring, it became easy to forget that there were actual matches on the program with the best a rematch between Andrade "Cien" Almas and Tye Dillinger.

I thought Almas had another good showing despite his silly entrance attire and I liked that there seems to be some type of change happening within Dillinger. He may not be the perfect 10 much longer.

The Authors of Pain had their first official match in NXT Wednesday and it was over as fast as you'll read this sentence. For what it was, it was a good showing for the pair of powerhouses.

Elsewhere, TM-61 picked up their first win over Blake and Murphy, who appear to be well on their way to breaking up as a unit.

Here are the full match results:

- Authors of Pain def. local competitors

- Carmella def. Tessa Blanchard

- TM-61 def. Blake & Murphy

- Andrade "Cien" Almas def. Tye Dillinger
