Former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. for multiple days and took part in a tryout to become a professional wrestler, according to Brandon Stroud of Yardbarker.com.

Merriman last played for the Buffalo Bills in 2012 and officially called it a career back in March. He has since made some television appearances for NFL Network.

Apparently, the former Pro Bowler wasn't finished with contact sports and has decided to try his hand in wrestling. Merriman put photos of his training scars on Facebook as he showed off bruising from continuously running the ropes.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Merriman has not been offered a contract from WWE.
