Philadelphia-based wrestling promotion Extreme Rising confirmed to Philly.com that it would air its weekly one-hour television show on WACP Channel 4 in Philadelphia.

PWInsider.com first reported the news Thursday. The first episode of Extreme Rising’s television show is scheduled to air Wednesday, Jan. 1 at 10 p.m. All subsequent episodes are expected to air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. The first tapings will take place Dec. 28 during the promotion’s big show at the ECW Arena.

Extreme Rising promoter Steve O’Neill talked about the television deal via phone interview Thursday night.

He said that he liked what WACP had to offer as a television station for a number of reasons, but chief among them is its location on the television dial.

He specifically mentioned its placement on Comcast as Channel 3 is CBS Philly and Channel 5 is the USA Network, which airs WWE Raw every Monday night.

He also liked the fact that it will be Channel 4 on the dial no matter where you are in the area.

WACP is an independent television station based out of Atlantic City, N.J. that serves Philadelphia, according to StationIndex.com. The station launched in June of 2012, according to PWInsider.

O’Neill also confirmed that the promotion is looking into getting the program syndicated. He said that he will look try to get the show into markets where the old Extreme Championship Wrestling used to thrive.

As far as the format of the show O’Neill said that he’s not going to have a strict format for it. He said that he would take each taping and sort of piece them together.

He did say that he could possibly get four episodes out of the Dec. 28 show.

O’Neill said that he has been looking into making the shows available to be streamed over the internet, but was uncertain which platform to use for that just yet.
