Extreme Rising announces its return to ECW Arena

Extreme Rising, the extreme wrestling promotion that was partly run by Shane Douglas, announced its return via a press release it sent to PWInsider.com Monday.

The promotion announced that it would host an event Dec. 28 at the old ECW Arena at 7 West Ritner Street in South Philadelphia.

No matches for the event were announced just yet, but the release did say that doors will open at 6 p.m. with bell time scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are set to go on sale at noon Oct. 25 on the promotion's web site.

On the promotion's site, the event is being promoted with a graphic of Stevie Richards, the promotion's world champion, and Sabu. Not sure if that can give any indication as to who will be there, but it's interesting to note.

Another major announcement in the release was that the promotion had landed a local television deal that will include a weekly broadcast beginning Jan. 1 in Philadelphia, Bucks County, South Jersey and Northern Delaware. More details on the deal were still to come, according to the release.

The press release also stated that the promotion had undergone some changes behind the scenes. Chief among them is that Steve O'Neill will officially head all aspects of the promotion.

More updates on the promotion are expected to be announced on the promotion's Facebook and Twitter pages.
