Starr closes Continental in Miami Beach

In a rare closing, Stephen Starr has shut down the Miami Beach branch of The Continental after two years, effective over the weekend.
Starr said in a brief phone conversation Sunday that the restaurant – in the Aloft hotel on Collins Avenue – had underperformed, and cited parking issues.
Starr is not alone pulling out of that part of town. This month, Tom Colicchio's Beachcraft inside the 1 Hotel South Beach across the street also closed after two years.
Starr said his other South Florida restaurants – Makoto and Le Zoo in Bal Harbour, Steak 954 in Fort Lauderdale, and Upland in Miami Beach – were doing solid business.
Other Philadelphians, meanwhile, are dropping anchor in Miami, including Dizengoff and Federal Donuts.
