Rittenhouse has its mealtime extravagances – and there are few things more pleasingly belly-filling than a steaming bowl of mac and cheese from Mac Mart on 18th near Chestnut – but the healthful options abound.
Snap Kitchen sells refrigerated meals to go at 19th and Chestnut. Sweetgreen added to its salad holdings at 1821 Chestnut St. by opening a cafe at 1601 Market St. earlier this month. Farmer’s Keep offers salads and such on 20th Street near Market. Agno Grille with Mediterranean fast-casual at 21st and Chestnut, and its sibling, Pure Fare, on 21st, around the corner. And next up is Just Salad, the NYC salad and wrap specialist, aiming at July 10 for its new shop at 1729 Chestnut St.
Newly open is Smart Street Healthy Kitchen & Juice Bar – a rebranding of Jeff Tinney’s Juice Healthy Kitchen in Midtown Manhattan – at 38 S. 19th St. The corner space, with a counter in the center, previously was Kaufman’s Deli and a branch of Famous 4th Street Deli. It’s 14 months in the making.
Menu is healthful wraps/panini, grain bowls, salads, juices, smoothies, and entrees with 99 percent of the food made in-house and most items grilled or baked. Tinney says Smart Street sources produce and proteins from local farms and seeks natural, GMO-free, and organic items when possible. Menu is here.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
