Wednesday, Sept. 13 is opening night for Pistola's Del Sur, the third Mexican-style beer bar from Joe Gunn, Casey Parker, and Adan Trinidad. They're in the former Palladino's (1934 E. Passyunk Ave.), where they're backed by longtime manager Adam Anderson.

Opening-day doors open at 6 p.m.

Decor takes advantage of the owners' friendship with photographer Dominic Episcopo, who lives in an old church in Fishtown and gave up stained glass, old doors, wood, and even the pipe organ as accents. (The St. Dom on the drink list is a tribute.)

Manager Sarah Walker installed a mural of Orval, in Belgium, behind stained glass on the rear wall in the dining room.

Parker's wife, Kerry, laminated stained glass to create the bar top, which is framed in steel. (Ask to see the grasshopper and fly that met their demise and became suspended in the resin.)

Menu is similar to Jose Pistola's in Center City and Sancho Pistola's in Fishtown, though they've added ceviches, cocas (flatbreads), open-face quesadillas, and tiraditos.

Ten beers on tap include Russian River Blind Pig and Sly Fox O'Reilly stout.

Twelve bottles round out the list.

Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays, 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekends. Kitchen is open till 1 a.m. daily.
