HipCityVeg in Rittenhouse will shut for renovations

HipCityVeg on 18th Street, around the time of its opening in April 2012.

HipCityVeg’s flagship location in Rittenhouse — 127 S. 18th St. — will close after business Sunday, Oct. 29 for what’s described as several weeks of renovations.

Nicole Marquis opened her vegan fast-casual shop in April 2012, doing much of the work herself.

Now with two other locations in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., she wants to spruce up the original to reflect the brand’s newer look.

During closure, Marquis said in a statement, employees will either get compensated personal time or find work at other locations — 214 S. 40th St. or nearby at 121 S. Broad St. The 18th Street location is supposed to reopen in mid-November.
