Green Eggs' Steve Slaughter says Medusa will remain open - same name - and will add waiter service. A Green Eggs is on the way, too.

Popular Philly bruncherie Green Eggs Cafe is in expansion mode, and it's setting up next in Fishtown with the purchase of wood-fired specialist Medusa Pizzeria at Gaul and York Streets in Fishtown.

Green Eggs' Steve Slaughter says Medusa will remain open – same name – and will add waiter service. "I always thought it should be a place for a sit-down meal," he said.

A new menu, to take effect March 6, will be more trattoria-style — same pizza (and employees), additional creative toppings, fewer fried foods, he said.

Then in April comes the Green Eggs Cafe part of the equation. Slaughter and partners plan to set it up on the space's York Street side, leaving Medusa on the Gaul Street frontage. The restaurant has a killer deck, as well. The partners plan to seek a liquor license, as well.

Medusa opened in mid-2016. Casimira Villico says she and her family, which took three years to build the restaurant from a former warehouse, simply wanted to return to its core business of downtown pizza parlors (Joe's Pizza at 16th and Sansom, Ciao Pizza at 17th and Chestnut, and Margherita Pizza at Second and Chestnut).

Green Eggs has locations in South Philadelphia, Northern Liberties, and Washington Square West, as well as Miami.
