Chef Brian Lofink, who's held down the executive chef's role for eight years at Sidecar Bar & Grille in Southwest Center City, told staff today that he is moving on, effective Feb. 9.

"It has been an honor to work alongside every single person who has ever worked a shift in this restaurant," he wrote in an email. "There have been many great moments and I can honestly say that it has been a joy to work for both [founder] Adam Ritter and [current owner] Ori Feibush and I consider them both friends and mentors who have taught me much about the restaurant industry."

Lofink told me that he's looking for a position that would give him more time with his wife and boys.

"I have no doubt that everyone and the restaurant will excel in the coming years," he wrote. "I appreciate everyone's respect and support over the years and thank you all for your hard work, dedication and professionalism. I will look back on this period in time fondly and refer to it as a map to future success."

Lofink, whose previous gig was co-chef at the now-shuttered Matyson, was also chef at Ritter's former establishments, the nearby Kermit's Bake Shoppe and Fishtown's Kraftwork.

Feibush said he was beginning the search for a new chef.
