Former Pod chef Hiroyuki “Zama” Tanaka says neighborhood approval has come through for Zama, his Japanese restaurant that will take over for Loie on 19th Street between Sansom and Walnut.

With Loie closed after business Sat 8/22, Tanaka says construction will begin shortly, with a target of late October.

Here's the first word of the project. Tanaka is not aiming for what he calls Japanese "confusion" but for authentic Japanese cuisine.
