Restaurateur giving away a reception to gay couples
He will give away a wedding reception for gay couples at the Philadelphia locations of his restaurants Stella Rossa (10th and Walnut Streets) and Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar (40th and Walnut Streets).
In the 24 hours since a federal judge struck down Pennsylvania's ban on same-sex marriage, there's been a run on marriage licenses. This is good news not only for gay couples and their familiies, but for the gazillion-dollar wedding industry.
Florists, planners, tux rental shops (OK, divorce lawyers, too) - boom times ahead.
Restaurateur Dave Magrogan has weighed in with an offer:
He will give away a wedding reception for gay couples at the Philadelphia locations of his restaurants Stella Rossa (10th and Walnut Streets) and Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar (40th and Walnut Streets).
Couples (or friends of gay couples) can post a note of up to 50 words explaining why they should win a wedding on the restaurants' Facebook pages.
Stella Rossa's is here, and Harvest's is here.
The couples whose comments get the most "likes" by June 30 will win a wedding for up to 50 guests; it will be buffet lunch or dinner plus open bar.
Both weddings must take place before the end of 2014.
