What's going on at Roy's?

Is the Outback-backed Center City restaurant closing?

What's going on at Roy's?

Speculation is flying around about the future of Roy's, the Outback-backed Hawaiian restaurant at 15th and Sansom Streets.

Aloha?

Nothing is official, but the owners of Roy's building, brothers Joe and David Grasso, are in deep talks with Roy's corporate folks to end the restaurant's lease, a year and a half early. Roy's opened in late 2001.

They want to open a restaurant of their own there, according to Ed Doherty, managing partner of Union Trust steakhouse. Joe Grasso owns a piece of Union Trust as well as its building at 717 Chestnut St.

Meanwhile, Roy's corporate folks are saying there's nothing to say, and restaurant employees are said to be in the dark.

So for now, it's business as usual there.
