What to eat and drink at Independence Beer Garden

OK, so Travis Masar's food menu at Michael Schulson's Independence Beer Garden - opening at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 15 on Sixth Street across from the Liberty Bell - is not exactly a calorie-counter's dream.
But the setting is pure escapist fun. And there are 20 beers on tap, plus an enviable can and bottle list.
IBG - ringing Dow Chemical's building at 100 S. Independence Mall West - is a heavily landscaped oasis in the city, in the heart of the historic district, four blocks from the weekend craziness that is Second Street in Old City.
David Fierabend of Groundswell Design Group (the firm behind Festival Pier and Spruce Street Harbor Park) added trees, ivy-covered pergolas with Tivoli lights, reclaimed timber, and shipping containers (they serve as kitchens, indoor play rooms and restrooms).
There is ping pong, table-top Jenga and other outdoor games, plus two bars.

IBG will open daily at 11 a.m. The kitchen will serve until 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday; until 11 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday; and till midnight Friday and Saturday. The restaurant will stay open until last call at 1:45 a.m.
