Exclusive:

For his next restaurant, Marc Vetri is going around the corner from his flagship Vetri.

The chef signed the lease yesterday for Amìs -- say it "ah-MEES" -- a Roman trattoria serving "simple, rustic food," at 13th and Waverly Streets in Washington Square West. (That's the corner storefront that Michael O'Halloran of Bistro 7 was going to develop into his second restaurant; after a tiff with the landlord during construction, he moved on and is now opening Kong in Northern Liberties next month.)

Vetri says Brad Spencer will swing over from Vetri to be chef at Amís.

Opening is penciled in for the winter.

(Amìs is dialect for "friends" in Lombardy, where Vetri studied in Italy.)

Vetri also is a partner in Osteria on North Broad.

The guy's a good chef, but it is impossible to enjoy a $500 meal unless someone else is paying for it. I hope the new restaurant will have a price point where non-drug dealers can afford it.

Is Marc any relation to Risa Vetri Ferman, the Montco DA?

I just read that Marc and Risa are siblings, which is what I had thought.

Yes, they are siblings and extremely close! Osteria doesn't have to be $500 for dinner by the way! Philadelphia is lucky to have such a talented chef. I wish we were more loyal, it is a sahme wants happening to David Ansill's place...
