Vegan P.S. & Company opening in Rittenhouse

P.S. & Company (1706 Locust St.) - opening Saturday, May 10 - the café/juice bar/takeout lunch/bakery is the bright, airy storefront presence of Pure Sweets, the gluten-free bakery run gfor six years by Andrea Kyan. She worked with Groundswell Design, whose projects include Talula's Garden and Morgan's Pier.

How about a restaurant that is (deep breath now) all vegan, all gluten-free, kosher-­style and 97 percent organic.

P.S. & Company (1706 Locust St.) - opening Saturday, May 10 - is the bright, airy storefront presence of Pure Sweets, the gluten-free bakery run for six years by Andrea Kyan.  She worked with Groundswell Design, whose projects include Talula's Garden and Morgan's Pier.

Tables and shelves at the café/juice bar/takeout lunch/bakery are made of reclaimed wood and the lighting is eclectic. There's a communal table in one room, a food-demo table in another and two outdoor options.

The cafe will be open for breakfast (house-made yogurt, sprouted muesli), lunch (soups, salads, wraps,. bowls), and afternoon tea. Drinks will include organic nut milkshakes, hot teas and cold pressed juices.

Kyan promises a slate of nutrition and cooking classes this summer plus activities for kids and BYO happy hours.

Hours: 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for breakfast, lunch and savories from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., afternoon tea on weekends from 2 to 5 p.m.
