Several South Street businesses are offering $25 gift certificates for those who show a layoff letter or 20 percent discounts to those who show proof of being unemployed.

Al Grafstrom, owner of La Fourno at 636 South, created the program, whose members now include Copabanana, at Fourth and South, and North, at 222 South.

Participants will be listed on www.southstreet.com.
