You've heard of beer gardens.
Philadelphia will get a wine garden next spring.
Tria founders Jonathan Myerow, Dave Kwass, and Michael McCaulley are teaming with Avram Hornik of FCM Hospitality to create Tria Wine Garden, a 150-seater.
It will be set up on the ground floor of United Plaza at 31 S. 18th St., in the space on the corner of 18th and Ludlow that last was occupied by Brodo. The front opens into a spacious patio.
The idea is to combine Tria’s signature customer service as well as affordable wine, cheese, and beer in a laid-back style and setting reminiscent of Hornik's other venues such as Morgan’s Pier and Parks on Tap, said a rep, responding to my question about a liquor license posted at the site last week. The wine garden will operate year-round.
The Tria wine bar about two blocks away at 18th and Sansom Streets will be unaffected, as will the other Tria locations in Rittenhouse Square, Washington Square, and Fitler Square.
It will be aimed at Center City professionals, and will include dedicated private event space.
Nick Quinn and Steve Gartner of CBRE negotiated the lease.
