Tiki coming to a Midtown Village corner

Latest project from Jason Evenchik.

The building at the corner of 13th and Drury Streets in Midtown Village has been home to assorted bar concepts, including Apothecary, The Corner and Mamou.

Why shouldn't the next one be a tiki bar, to take advantage of the charming second-floor deck.

And Tiki is the name of the next project by Jason Evenchik, who owns the nearby Time, Bar, and Vintage, as well as Heritage in Northern Liberties, and Garage and La Casa de Tu Madre in South Philadelphia. (There's a second Garage coming this May to Frankford and Girard Avenues in Fishtown.)

As reported by Foobooz, Tiki (102 S. 13th St.) will be mostly drinks backed by a small food menu of noodles, dumplings, and skewers, with a surf rock/'90s hip-hop soundtrack.

Evenchik, stockpiling bamboo as we speak, said in a chat that he hoped to open in April.

The Fishtown Garage is looking to be a beast of an operation, with roll-up doors and a 97-foot bar in the space formerly occupied by Penn Treaty Market.
