This is a Philadelphia story, all right.
The Field House, on Filbert Street next to Reading Terminal Market, hung a 75-pound brass bell behind the bar.
It's a joint project with Victory Brewery, and the idea is for the bell to be rung after each local team's victory - signaling half-price Victory beers for an hour after each win.
But it got a little crazy the first night, Jan. 26. The Sixers beat the Knicks, 97-80, and the Flyers beat the Panthers, 7-1.
Victory rep Greg Lehman was so amped up by the noise of the crowd, his high-energy ring ripped the Victory Bell off the wall. The place, as you might imagine, went crazy.
The bell - and no, it did not crack - has been reinstalled with major support behind it.
