"The Lovely Bones" to open Jan. 15

The set-in-Philly thriller will have a sneak preview for the people who worked on it.

The Lovely Bones, the Peter Jackson-directed chiller that was shot here in 2007 (and later in New Zealand), will hit  theaters Jan. 15.

Paramount will sneak-preview it next week for the local cast and crew, as well as local officials who helped with the suburban shoots. I hear that neither Jackson nor the stars (Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci) will be there.

Novelist Alice Sebold supposedly set Lovely Bones' plot in Norristown, Chadds Ford and the rest of the Route 202 corridor, and modeled the school after General Wayne Middle School in Malvern, now a grade school.

(Post corrected; on 12/7, studio changed release date.)
