Taqueria del Sol opens in Springfield; Center City is next
Quick-serve Southwest/Mexican grub.
Taqueria del Sol - the Atlanta-based Southwest/Mexican quick-serve franchise whose founders have been nominated twice for James Beard Awards - has expanded here.
Added to the Willow Grove location that opened last year is a new spot in Springfield, Delaware County. It's next to Empire Beauty School in the Staples shopping center on Sproul Road just off Route 1 (781 W. Sproul Rd., Springfield, 484-472-8644).
As Taqueria del Sol is quick-serve, you order at the counter. But it also has a full-fledged bar. Happy hour is on from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays with $3 beers, $3 frozen margaritas and $3 starters, and every Wednesday, margarita pitchers are $10 off.
Owner Chris Blythe says Taqueria del Sol's next stop will be Center City Philadelphia in 2014. Location is TBA.
