Tangier's finale will be Aug. 4

Contrary to reports elsewhere, the prospective buyers of the Center City bar are not the family that owns the popular Old Nelson delis, though the surname happens to be Hwang.

Tangier - the tap that's held down the corner of 18th and Lombard Streets since 1982 - has taken to Facebook to announce last call.

"Okay gang," wrote owner Jack Roe on Saturday. "This is the official word, We will be providing food drink and shelter until Monday night August 4 as long as we have not run out of beer and liquor.

"I have begun to remove everything from the walls as certain objects have walked already.

"After discussion with the new owners what I knew would come to pass is in fact they are going to close and redo the place and make it into I don't know what but Tangier will be no more.

"It breaks my heart I love you all let's have a good last two weeks thanks Jack."

Among the items that have walked was the Dali print at the bottom of the stairs.

The building's next tenant most likely will not be a deli, I hear.
