Taco Angeleno: Tacos from a cart in West Philly

Open Thursday to Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. through October, Taco Angeleno works up a small menu - four tacos (beef, pork, chicken, and vegan seitan), quesadillas, salsa and chips, Mexican Coke, and water.

Vanessa Jerolmack, a Los Angeles transplant, is now in season 2 of Taco Angeleno, a taco cart set up in a onetime abandoned lot near the West Philadelphia house she shares with her husband, Doug, and their 18-month-old twin girls.

Open Thursday to Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. through October, Taco Angeleno works up a small menu - four tacos (beef, pork, chicken, and vegan seitan), quesadillas, salsa and chips, Mexican Coke, and water.

You top your tacos with assorted fixings and have a seat is on picnic benches beneath twinkling lights.

Jerolmack (nee Hernandez) trained for her venture by working at Loco Pez in Fishtown and went through miles of city red tape to make it all legal.

She says she's planning a Sunday brunch including a breakfast taco.

Arrive early; on a lovely evening, the tacos sell out quickly.
