TLA Video wants to open a movie theater in N Phila

A liquor license apeared last week on 631 N. Sixth St. in the name of Movie Warehouse LLC, which corporate records linked back to TLA.

TLA Video is exploring the idea of converting a warehouse it owns on Sixth Street near Fairmount Avenue in the West Poplar neighborhood - just west of Northern Liberties - into an artsy movie theater-slash-restaurant.

A liquor license appeared last week on 631 N. Sixth St. in the name of Movie Warehouse LLC, which corporate records linked back to TLA.

TLA's Ray Murray, contacted today, said he did not have a lot of info on the scope of the project - though in theory it would combine cinema with a bar-restaurant, in the same vein as Movie Tavern (which has a location in Collegeville and is building a second area spot in Flourtown).

Murray said TLA decided to apply for the liquor license early in the process because community approval would be required. There is a church across the street, and a nearby school.

Federal Donuts, meanwhile, is building a location at Seventh and Fairmount.
