Strangelove's is getting closer

POSTED: Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 11:25 AM
Strangelove's sign.

Strangelove's - the latest beer bar from the Memphis Taproom/Local 44/Resurrection Ale House crew - is on a "sometime in April" track for 216 S. 11th St., on the former site of Doc Watson's plus a list of short-lived bars.

Partners Leigh Maida and husband Brandan Hartranft get a major pass for the slight delay: She delivered a baby girl a month ago.

Paul Martin, an alum of Parc and original chef at Catahoula, is chef.

The Hartranfts and business partner Brendan Kelly are waiting for paperwork from Harrisburg and some decor work.

Maida says the beer program will mimic Local 44, in West Philly, most heavily: 18 drafts and two beer engines, available at upstairs and downstairs bars.
