Stollenwerk casting off most of his empire

The chef is selling Little Fish and Fathom, as he concentrates on a new Fish.

Mike Stollenwerk, who's gone from one little seafood-oriented BYOB to three restaurants seemingly overnight (OK, four years), is paring down his empire.

Stollenwerk has a buyer for Bella Vista BYOB Little Fish (to his chef Chadd Jenkins) and has offers on the table for his new Fishtown bar Fathom Seafood House, his rep confirmed. The timeline for the changeover is not set, but appears to be happening soon.

The rep says Stollenwerk wants to concentrate on Fish's forthcoming move to 1234 Locust St., a much larger space smack in the middle of the hot 13th Street corridor.

Fish, now at 1708 Lombard St., will remain open until that new location, on the southeast corner of 13th and Locust Streets, is ready. It's on target for this fall.

I've heard from one restaurateur who said he would take over 1708 Lombard, but Stollenwerk said no deal was in hand.

Stollenwerk's rep said he has received multiple offers; the liquor license in place in a residential neighborhood seems to have great value.

Stollenwerk landed on the scene in 2007 when he bought Little Fish, a shoebox-size seafooder then at Sixth and Catharine Streets. He went uptown in fall 2009 with Fish at 1708 Lombard.
