Starr-Olexy Fishtown restaurant is not happening

There may be a lot of things happening in Fishtown, but that joint Stephen Starr-Aimee Olexy restaurant apparently is not one of them.

There may be a lot of things happening in Fishtown, but that joint Stephen Starr-Aimee Olexy restaurant apparently is not one of them.

The restaurateurs, who own Talula's Garden and Talula's Daily at the Ayer on Washington Square, have bagged their plans at 1526-30 Frankford Ave., where they had intended to locate a restaurant built around a vegetable garden and Olexy's earth-mother aesthetic.

Olexy said the project was "on the shelf" because of several issues, including their inability to get the project open in time for early spring.

Starr said he might proceed with something on his own there, but I hear that's not likely.

Meanwhile, La Colombe is heavily into construction at its planned "distillery" and cafe at 1335 Frankford Ave.; Tommy Up is getting close with his tiki bar The Yachtsman at 1444 Frankford Ave.; Tyler Akin's pho shop, Stock, is nearing the finish line at 308 E. Girard Ave.; and Cake Life Bake Shop is a ways out for 1306 Frankford Ave.
