Eric Paraskevas, who won solid notices as the opening chef of the Slate gastropub on 21st Street near Chestnut (and who previously did time at Lolita), is breaking out with his own place, possibly as early as Sept. 10.

He's calling it terra, and the space is below terra -- a quaint 40-seater with bar beneath the historic Tavern on Camac at 243 S. Camac St.

His menu will feature new-American cuisine. Samples: seared black cod with rosemary almond puree, olive oil, and red shiso; or hoe cake flat bread, with spinach, roasted red pepper, and fried egg; acorn squash hotpot, served with udon noodles, shaved duck breast, and bean sprouts; and pan-seared pork chop, done with a glazed salsify, quince salsa, and fresh horseradish jus. How about mini-Blue Moon orange ice cream floats.

Starters $8-12, entrees $18-25.
